I may have missed the point, so:
If I've understood this right, it's about horsemanship, or realy, the word "Horsemanship". All handling of horses is horsemanship, if it's from the ground, the saddle or driving or if it's done like the "cowboys" , dressage riders or drivers, it's still horsemanship. If it's with a rope halter or a bit, it's still the same. Anyone is free to do it the way they believe in. But some horsesports require certain equipment, such as a bit or a certain type of bridle. So saying that only "Natural horsemanship" is the right way, is wrong.
As I see it "horsemanship" is a way of handling a horse and anyone who handles a horse in a good way is exercising "horsemanship" and I also believe that natural horsemanship trainers say it's the "way to go" because they are making a lot of money of peoples ignorance. Yes it is popular in Sweden but not as much as it used to be.

Yes I know:)
Oh dear.....I'm sick of "natural horsemanship". All usage of horses is horsemanship, but there is both good and bad horsemanship. Horse sport is a good thing for all who ride and it also is good for the horses, what else would one do with them if one didn't use them? Eat them like cattle?? No, the horse is bred for using in one way or another, this is the way it always has been and this is the way it always will be.

I think I'll clarify what I wrote earlier.
Some horses need shoeing and some don't depending on usage, ground condition and horn quality which often is hereditary, but I wouldn't shoe a two year old. Strasser is a German vet. She says that all horses can go unshod. She says it's natural. Realy, people have shod horses since Djingis Khan and that's because people became aware that they helped the horse and made the life of the hooves longer. And again, this is due to the fact that the horse was used in war and needed to stay sound and healthy. A horse with out shoes wouldn't have lasted very long under these circumstances. She says that wild horses don't have shoes and she is right, but I say, she forgets that the way humans have been breeding horses hasen't taken "hoove quality" in to consideration, whilst wild horses do their own "breeding", the strongest and fittest animals breed and the weak die, natural selection.

Well it depends on what one is going to use the horse for, working, riding, showing or just having the horse in the field. We don't shoe our horses untill they are at least 3 years old, exept for showing. And after the show the shoes come of. If one starts shoeing to early the horse could loose one size in the hooves at maturity and this is not good because the hooves are the horses "shock absorbers". Shoeing also can alter the movement in the gaits which sometimes is desirable. We shoe all our horses to save the hooves. I do not believe in "Strasser"

Hello. Tell me if I am wrong, but are you talking about shoeing horses ? And if I am right, what about?
